An employee of KFC was shot by a customer and is currently in the hospital. The St. Louis client reportedly complained that the restaurant had run out of corn, according to ABC News. Employees advised the suspect, a guy in his 40s or 50s, who was in the KFC drive-through queue, that the restaurant had run out of corn. Through the speaker box, the guy started yelling threats at the workers. Then, brandishing a revolver, he pulled up to the drive-through window. A worker reportedly retaliated by going outdoors, according to ABC News. The worker was shot in the abdomen, and after being transported to a hospital, his status is serious but stable.
Kelly Pound and Renee Brandao, two walkers who routinely board buses close to the KFC site, were questioned by KMOV. Pound speculates that the suspect’s fear may have overcome him. Although Brandao wasn’t shocked to learn of the incident, she still finds it distressing. The suspect in the shooting is still being sought by authorities. However, they have not said if the incident was captured on security camera. – Steve Sijenyi
