After being out of the game for nearly a year and a half, Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons made his
long-awaited debut with his new team on Monday.
Simmons said he felt “wonderful” while scoring six points, making five assists, and grabbing four
rebounds in 19 minutes in Monday’s 127-108 preseason loss to the 76ers, despite pushing for a trade
from Philadelphia and citing mental health issues.
The Nets have a lot of points to protect defensively as they move forward. However, players and
coaches were pleased with Simmons’s offensive performance, particularly when he played alongside
Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.
After the game, Simmons appeared both relieved and satisfied that he was finally able to play
with his new Nets teammates.
