In 2024, NOLA is going to take off and explode. Big Freedia, a well-known bounce performer, is getting ready to open Hotel Freedia, a small nightclub and hotel in New Orleans. The musician reportedly told Rolling Stone that this spring will see construction begin on the site at Decatur and Frenchmen Streets in New Orleans’ Faubourg Marigny area.

Only five rooms will be available at Hotel Freedia since the owner wants the establishment to serve more as a nightclub, music venue, and gathering place by the pool where guests can enjoy food, beverages, and entertainment.
“Think of a country club with a music venue,” Freedia’s manager Reid Martin said when describing the hotel. “Obviously, Frenchmen Street is all about local music so we want to have a lot of local music going on, but we’re also interested in having some national music coming in,” Martin added.

During the epidemic approximately two years ago, Big Freedia teased at the idea for her hotel, where she spent her time at home cooking and offering hospitality for herself, friends, and neighbors.
“Not being able to go out and work during the pandemic, cooking brought so much light and creativity it just really got me interested in doing a restaurant,” Freedia said. “And I always had a dream of opening a hotel, so it just kind of came together that way,” the bounce icon added.
