Nigerian artist Davido, has suffered a huge loss in his family.  Alongside his partner Chioma Rowland, he’s lost his son Ifeanyi. A report in the Daily Mail and various Nigerian news outlets have confirmed that the boy’s family lost him to drowning in a pool on their home property in the Banana Island area of Lagos. He was said to have been submerged for some time before being picked up and taken to a hospital nearby. Sadly, he was declared dead upon arrival.

Tragically, the incident is said to have occurred only a few days after the toddler turned three. No one from the singer’s family or group has released a statement at this time. On the other hand, it is thought that Davido and his wife were not at home at the time of the incident. Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, provided Daily Mail with confirmation that the child had passed away, despite conflicting reports that circulated on social media and denied the news as a rumor.

“Domestic staff at Davido’s home have been taken to the station to give their own account of what happened,” Hundeyin said. “If after they all give their own account of what happened and after preliminary investigations, if anyone of them is found culpable, the person will now be placed under arrest.”
