DRAKE AND 21 SAVAGE SUED FOR $4 MILLION OVER FAKE VOGUE COVER

The two rappers faked the cover on social media, put up posters all over the country, and had people hand out fake copies of the magazine on the streets.

Drake and 21 Savage’s album controversies continue to mount and may even land them in court. The duo are being sued for their fictitious Vogue cover, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ. The duo has been mocking traditional album releases, including a fictitious appearance on the NPR Tiny Desk, an interview with Howard Stern, and a performance on Saturday Night Live with a Michael B. Jordan intro.

With cut-and-paste images of Drake and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, they created a fake Vogue cover that is a direct copy of the most recent issue. The publisher of Vogue claims that they did not authorize the use of the brand’s name in Her Loss album promotional materials. Despite Drake giving the brand and editor-in-chief Anna Wintour a shout-out online for receiving a blessing, Condé Nast, which owns Vogue, claims that is not the case. Condé Nast asserts that Anna and Vogue “have not endorsed [“Her Loss”] in any way” and have asked multiple times for all promos utilizing the Vogue name to be taken down, but nothing has been done.

On Instagram, a post of the altered cover is accompanied by the caption, “Me and my brother on newsstands tomorrow!!, Thanks to Anna Wintour and @voguemagazine for their love and support during this historic moment.” which suggests that Vogue was involved in the promotion. According to court documents, the two rappers faked the cover on social media, put up posters all over the country, and had people hand out fake copies of the magazine on the streets. In addition to asking a judge to stop using Vogue’s name entirely, Condé Nast wants to demand $4 million in damages from the rappers.
