SEREENA QUICK BECOMES FIRST BLACK WOMAN TO OWN CHICK-FIL-A FRANCHISES IN THREE STATES

Quick climbed from executive director of a Chick-fil-A franchise in Malvern, Pennsylvania, with owner/operator Chris Walsh, to owning her own facility in the state in just three years.

Sereena Quick launched a Chick-fil-A franchise in West Philadelphia earlier this month, making her the first Black woman to own Chick-fil-A restaurants in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey. According to WPVI-TV Quick’s Philadelphia franchise has been in the works for months since she was chosen as the operator earlier this year. The new Chick-fil-A franchise will be located at 4040 City Avenue and will employ more than 100 people. The West Chester University of Pennsylvania alum has always been an entrepreneur, and he formerly had a water ice truck in Philadelphia. Quick joined Chick-fil-A after meeting Jon Hooper, the owner/operator of a Chick-fil-A franchise in California, in 2019.

She is enthusiastic about her future with the fast food behemoth and says her experience there has been nothing but great. Miss Quick isn’t the only Black woman with a Chick-fil-A franchise. Amber Thomas, a former intern at Chick-fil-A, became the owner of San Diego’s only Black-owned Chick-fil-A franchise earlier this year. – Steve Sijenyi
