Sha’Carri raced in the 100-meter race in the first event on Friday in Doha, Qatar, against notable rivals including Shericka Jackson and Dina Asher-Smith. Notably, Sha’Carri’s 100-meter speed this year was the fastest in the world, coming in at 10.76 seconds. The Diamond League race also established a new record as a result of this. American Tori Bowie, who just died away, established the previous benchmark of 10.80 seconds.
Sha’Carri released an Instagram statement the day before the marathon in which she addressed some realizations she had. She once claimed that the “pain” she was pushing through was to blame for previous setbacks. – Steve Sijenyi
